LENS REPLACEMENT SURGERY
What is Lens Replacement surgery?
Lens Replacement surgery is an extremely popular eye operation, recommended for people that are 45 years old and above. In essence, the natural lens within the eye is replaced with a high-quality synthetic lens to correct the patient’s vision. Through lens replacement surgery, patients can correct long, middle and reading distance vision issues, depending on the type of lens chosen, and suited to their needs.
Lens Replacement surgery is normally used for patients aged 45 and above, that have the below issues with their eyesight:
Short-sightedness – cannot see well in the distance
Far-sightedness – cannot see well up close
Astigmatism – blurred or distorted vision
Cataracts – cloudy vision
How does Lens Replacement surgery work?
STEP 1
Before the operation, on Day 1 you will visit the clinic to undergo an extensive and thorough eye health check. The clinic’s specialists will also assess your vision with and without glasses. Based on the results, you will discuss and agree with the surgeon the best synthetic lens that will work for you
STEP 2
Operation Day! On Day 2, local anaesthetic will be applied to your 1st eye at the beginning. Then, the surgeon will perform a small insertion on the surface of your eye and remove the natural lens. The chosen synthetic lens will be put in place and the healing process begins
STEP 3
You take the next 24h to rest and on Day 3 you visit the surgeon for the post-operational check-up. The surgeon will ensure that everything has been carried out properly and the healing process is under way. The process is repeated for the 2nd eye on Day 4 and Day 5. After your final post-operational check-up, you’re free to fly home or spend some time exploring Greece!
It is recommended 5 days as the minimum for Lens Replacement surgery.
Day 1 – Flight into Athens and pre-operational checks
Day 2 – Operation day on the 1st eye
Day 3 – 1st post-operational check-up
Day 4 – Operation day on the 2nd eye
Day 5 – 2nd post-operational checks and flight out
You can always extend your stay before or after the operation, if you’d like to explore Athens or visit one of the Greek islands. We’d be more than happy to provide you with recommendations!
How much does Lens Replacement surgery cost?
The price for Lens Replacement surgery for both eyes starts from €2,400 (Euros), which is roughly £2,000 (GBP)*, depending on the type of lens you choose. You will be able to discuss and agree with the surgeon the type of lens that is tailored to your needs. Once you’ve agreed the right lens for you, a customised quote will be generated for you.
