Laser eye surgery
What is Laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery is a laser-assisted eye operation, which corrects poor vision and takes away the need for glasses! The most established and proven method of laser eye surgery is LASIK. LASIK (Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is the most established laser eye surgery method in the world. With the help of latest technology laser equipment, patients’ eyesight is corrected within a matter of minutes.
LASIK is normally used for patients between 18 – 45 that have the below issues with their eyesight:
Short-sightedness – cannot see well in the distance
Far-sightedness – cannot see well up close
Astigmatism – blurred or distorted vision
Moreover, the LASIK method offered is completely bladeless (i.e. Femto-LASIK), which leads to faster healing and more accurate results. Also, clever technology is used to create a 3D map of your eye, creating a treatment plan that is personalised to your eyes only. This leads to improved accuracy up to 25 times more than glasses or contact lenses. The combination of these 2 methods is the best offering within LASIK and laser eye surgery globally.
How does laser eye surgery work?
STEP 1
Before the operation, you will visit the clinic so we can take multiple images and measurements of your eyes. The clinic uses up to 10 different equipment to gather the most accurate data to be used for the operation
STEP 2
Operation day! Anaesthetic drops will be applied to your eyes in the beginning. Then, with the assistance of 2 different lasers, a flap will be created on our eye’s surface, and your cornea will be reshaped to give you the perfect vision. The flap is closed and the healing process begins
STEP 3
You take the next 24h to rest and visit the surgeon for the post-operational check-up. The surgeon will ensure that everything has been carried out properly and the healing process is under way. From there, you can go back to your normal daily activities
It is recommended 3 days as the minimum for laser eye surgery.
Day 1 : Flight into Athens and pre-operational checks
Day 2 : Operation day
Day 3 : Post-operational checks and flight out
You can always extend your stay before or after the operation, if you’d like to explore Athens or visit one of the Greek islands. We’d be more than happy to provide you with recommendations!
