Medical tourism, eye surgery abroad and Greece – a good combination!

In our previous post, we’ve covered why Greece is one of the leading destinations for eye surgery abroad and medical tourism in general. But, what about the other activities that can be combined with treatment abroad?

Specifically, for laser eye surgery / LASIK and lens replacement surgery, the option to combine your medical treatment with a holiday break is an excellent opportunity. For laser eye surgery, only 3 days are required for all pre-operational, operation and post-operational activities, giving the patients flexibility to extend their stay for a few days and explore what Greece has to offer. Similarly, for lens replacement surgery, only 5 days are required for the end-to-end checks & operation. Both operations allow patients to combine their trip with some holiday activity, either before or after their treatments. The quick healing process and relatively less-intrusive nature of the operations allows patients to go straight into doing sightseeing or hopping on a ferry the very first day after the end of the treatment!

So, what options are there? Firstly, Athens is a great city to explore. Allow 2-3 days to visit all the ancient monuments, such as the Acropolis, the numerous museums and markets, but also experience the excellent and vibrant life in the city. Then, why not jump on a ferry or a plane to visit one of the thousands Greek islands in the Ionian and Aegean Sea? Apart from the famous islands of Santorini and Mykonos, Greece has an island for any occasion and mood!

In summary, patients have the opportunity to receive world class medical treatment at less than 50% of UK’s cost, but also access to one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. Eye surgery abroad made easy and fun!
